چکیده

An image compression algorithm using JPEG-LS and cubic spline interpolation (CSI) is presented in this paper. The CSI is developed in order to subsample image data with minimal distortion and to achieve image compression. It has been shown in literatures that the CSI can be combined with the transform-based image compression algorithm to develop a modified image compression codec. The compression ratio obtained from the modified codec is higher than which obtained from the standard transform-based codec at similar subjective quality of reconstructed image. This paper proposes a compression scheme which combines the CSI and JPEG-LS to form the modified JPEG-LS codec and further makes use of this modified codec to image compression. Experimental results show that the compression ratio of proposed scheme has been increased over 3 times higher than the compression ratio of original JPEG-LS image compression standard with similar visual quality. The proposed scheme reduces the loading of storing and transmission of image.

Deblocking Joint Photographic Experts Group Compressed Images via Self-learning Sparse Representation

JPEG is one of the most widely used image compression method, but it causes annoying blocking artifacts at low bit-rates. Sparse representation is an efficient technique which can solve many inverse problems in image processing applications such as denoising and deblocking. In this paper, a post-processing method is proposed for reducing JPEG blocking effects via sparse representation. In this ...

Advanced image coding and its comparison with various still image codecs

Abstract— JPEG is a popular DCT-based still image compression standard, which has played an important role in image storage and transmission since its development. Advanced Image Coding (AIC) is a still image compression system which combines the intra frame block prediction from H.264 with a JPEG-based discrete cosine transform followed by context adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC). It ...

A Modified Digital Image Watermarking Scheme Based on Nonnegative Matrix Factorization

This paper presents a modified digital image watermarking method based on nonnegative matrix factorization. Firstly, host image is factorized to the product of three nonnegative matrices. Then, the centric matrix is transferred to discrete cosine transform domain. Watermark is embedded in low frequency band of this matrix and next, the reverse of the transform is computed. Finally, watermarked ...

Modifying integer wavelet transforms for scalable near-lossless image coding

In near-lossless image coding, each reconstructed pixel of the decoded image differs from the corresponding one in the original image by not more than a pre-specified value δ. Such schemes are mainly based on predictive coding techniques, which are not capable of scalable decoding. Lossless image coding with scalable decoding is mainly based on integer wavelet transforms. In this paper, methods...
